PCKC Visit to Wingate Blackstone

PCKC members are invited to join with the Education Committee as we return for a visit to the memory care unit of Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard, 353 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI 02906, at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024.

While your dog does not have to be a registered therapy dog to take part in this activity, it needs to be able to be calm in a group setting with people and other dogs. It should be well housebroken and clean. We recommend CGC or better testing for any dog that will be brought into a communal visit situation.

Please bring information about the history and purpose of your breed. You can present the material or if you prefer, either John or someone else will handle talking about your breed if you would rather not speak to the group. You will have a chance to show off your dog and perhaps do a trick or two in front of the group. If appropriate, you can mingle with the residents with your dog near the end of the visit.

Since this is a memory care unit, you should be prepared to deal with people who say unexpected things and ask the same questions repeatedly.

Please do not participate if you have not been vaccinated. Bring a mask because one may be required. Please stay home if you have an elevated temperature or any other signs of sickness.
